Program Description:
This course discusses components of empathic leadership and the importance of fostering an environment of individuality, team collaboration, and community interfacing to promote a healthy and positive workplace culture through the concept of being, building, and belonging.
Learning Objectives:
- To understand six effective ways to increase team engagement
- To understand the difference between sympathy vs. empathy
- To describe how the concept of Being, Building, and Belonging positively cultivates a healthy and inclusive workplace culture
About the Presenter
Dr. Genine Ervin-Smith is the Chief Operating Officer for blendVET, a Los Angeles, California native, and a two-time graduate of Tuskegee University, receiving both undergraduate and College of Veterinary Medicine degrees. After veterinary school, she continued in her studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham to receive a Master of Public Health degree in Environmental and Global Health Sciences. Her veterinary journey has spanned across the avenues of clinical practice, investigative analysis, community activism, and leadership as a multi-unit hospital Director of Veterinary Quality for Banfield Pet Hospitals in Tennessee, Alabama, and Arkansas, Research & Development veterinarian with Virbac US, and Chief of Staff for Veterinary Centers of America, Inc. (VCA). Dr. Ervin-Smith’s ongoing dedication to positively impact the culture of veterinary medicine is fueled by her personal experiences and empathically crafted team-building strengths, which continue to inspire others toward meaningful growth and change.
