Program Description:

This course introduces the breakdown of gender identity, gender expression, sexuality & biological sex, pronouns & misgendering, and how to be an active ally.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the fundamental differences between Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Sexuality, and Biological Sex.
  • Understand what pronouns and neopronouns are, how to use them, and why respecting them is important.
  • Understand how to proceed when misgendering occurs.
  • Identify the difference between an active and passive ally.
  • Understand and utilize the strategies of an active ally.

About the Presenter

Stiles Foster (he/they) is currently the Chief Learning Officer at blendVET. Throughout his extensive career in veterinary medicine, he has transitioned from being a veterinary technician to working as the diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging (DEIB) manager at a major corporate veterinary emergency group and DEIB consultant within the veterinary profession. During their pivot into the world of DEIB, Stiles claimed the inaugural role as the first DEIB professional within their corporation, developing & overseeing the educational team, content, programming, & strategy prior to joining blendVET.
